As LSR enters 2022, they want to look back and celebrate their last 30 years of success in serving the multifamily industry. LSR has been passionate about making their company unique for many years. LSR’s dedicated and professional service department gives their customers exceptional results every time. Their industry knowledge makes complex projects simple. This allows them to operate efficiently within the multifamily construction market. Ultimately, they want to be seen as a company that is making a difference for their customers.
Starting in his early teens, LSR founder Bill Chinners, followed in his father and grandfathers’ footsteps and was working weekend and summer construction jobs doing everything from framing, cornice, trim carpentry, and roofing. He enjoyed working with his hands and always enjoyed looking back at the end of the day and being able to see what had been accomplished.
In 1992 Bill found himself serving as vice president for a small roofing company in Dallas, Texas. He learned many things from the owner of that company, but unfortunately most of what he learned was around how not to run a business. The owner did not respect or appreciate his vendors, his employees, or his customers. What little bit of culture that had been created was a culture of “everyone out for themselves”. It did not take long for Bill to realize he wanted to start a business to serve the multifamily industry and that was when Lone Star Roofing was launched. At that time, he answered all the phone calls, estimated, scheduled, and completed all the repairs while working out of his home garage. After some early success, in 1994 Bill was able to hire several employees and re-roof their first multifamily project located in Plano, Texas. With a unique focus on multifamily markets, Bill and the team continued to develop relationships with property owners, management companies and onsite personnel, resulting in LSR expanding into the San Antonio/Austin markets in 2001 and into the Houston market in 2007.
After many years of focusing on roofing and waterproofing in the multifamily industry, Bill decided to offer new services to his existing customers. In 2009, LSR opened their welding division and the following year a construction division. These new services allowed LSR to become a leading general contractor serving multifamily properties in all major markets in Texas.
After years of running the business on a “see a need, fill a need” ideology, in 2016 LSR adopted a new operating system to improve their organizational structure and deliver better services to their customers. This system has allowed LSR to grow while continuing to treat each customer as individuals.
When 2020 caused the world to stand still, LSR was able to become a leader in the multifamily industry by developing processes to keep customers and employees safe. These processes allowed LSR to service the needs of their customers and residents without interruption. The following year in 2021, Texas suffered the largest catastrophe ever witnessed with Winter Storm Uri. LSR again had the privilege to work with some new and long-term multifamily customers and their insurance adjusters to restore and improve their assets.

LSR has a goal of serving 2,026 multifamily properties by the year 2026. LSR loves their customers and feels they provide roofing, welding and construction services that are second to none. Their goal is not so much about reaching a number, but about expanding opportunities for customers and employees alike. As they look to 2026 and beyond, LSR is excited to Make A Difference for Another 30 years!
